FUE TECHNIQUE

Hair Transplant with Fue Method

fue techniqueThe hair transplantation procedure with the FUE method, despite being announced by Dr. Woods as “Wood Technique” in Australia, since he did not disclose details of this planting method, he has not received this name. In 2002, Dr. Rassman and Dr. Bernstein announced this method to the world of science, including details. Unlike the FUT method, it is possible to obtain stem cells from anywhere in the body with the FUE method.

In the FUE hair transplant method, the areas identified as donor areas are numbed by local anaesthesia. After numbing the area, a specialist separates hair follicles individually with the help of a tool with a slightly smaller tip of 1 mm diameter. This step is crucial for the survival of the roots to stay healthy and to be able to stay where they are planted after the operation. This separation is done on a piece-by-piece basis until the needed number is reached. Separated hair roots are kept in a special solution until the planting is started to keep them alive and healthy. After the harvesting is completed, the area where the hair implantation will be performed is first injected with local anaesthesia to numb it like it is done in the FUT method and then perforated. The hair follicles are placed into the drilled holes one by one. With the completion of this surgical step, the FUE hair transplant method is completed.

The advantage of the FUE method is that it does not require a piece of skin from the relevant part to be removed and the stem cells can be worked on individually. In the FUT method, since the hairy skin part is taken is stitched back together, it leaves a scar even if it is a very thin line.

Advantages of FUE Method

  • Feel better quicker: patients experience less post-op discomfort and, although the scars are more numerous, they are smaller and require less time to heal.
  • A more discreet scar: with FUT hair transplants, the strip produces a linear scar that, if you like to wear your hair short, is sometimes evident.
  • It does not result in much bleeding.
  • It can be performed to regrow hair on scars as well.
  • It provides the surgeon a chance to take out only selected hair follicles.
  • Wider harvesting options: by extracting each follicle individually, the choice of donor area is increased. With FUE, transplanting hairs from the nape (otherwise considered too thin) is a possibility, as is from chest or beard hair.
  • Better for those more likely to scar: for those for whom the risk of scarring is greater – that’s you if you are young, or particularly muscular, or if your scalp is notably tight or loose – FUE may be the preferred option, leaving fewer scars.
  • Workers in need of body power can go back to work earlier.
  • Trauma after the operation (post-trauma) is not observed.
